Let's learn about the technical, safe, and durable installation process for anti-static vinyl flooring with Thien Ha Floor.
The subfloor must be flat, smooth, dry, and free of moisture. If the subfloor is still damp, it needs to be dried before installation.
Remove dust, debris, old coatings, or any unrelated materials.
Ideal ambient temperature: around 25-30°C during the installation of anti-static vinyl flooring.
Tools:
Grooving knife, notched trowel, rubber mallet.
Glue spreader for even glue application.
PVC welding machine, special welding gun.
Resistance meter for conductivity testing.
Materials:
Anti-static Vinyl flooring sheets.
Specialized conductive adhesive (such as STIX A368 adhesive)
Floor polishing wax (SAN-02 Anti-static Floor Wax)
Copper strip: thickness 0.05-0.15mm, width ~20mm
Grounding wire.

Clean the subfloor, removing dust and debris.
Check the flatness of the subfloor; the difference should not exceed 3mm over a 2m length. If the subfloor is uneven, it needs to be ground flat or treated with self-leveling compound.
Subfloor moisture content ≤ 5%. If it exceeds this level, moisture treatment must be applied before laying.
Materials (vinyl flooring, adhesive, copper strips, etc.) should be stored for 48 hours at conditions of 20-25°C and 25-50% humidity to stabilize before installation.

Install the copper strip system (common size 10mm x 0.05mm), forming a grid pattern with standard spacing of 600mm x 600mm or 600mm x 1800mm depending on the design.
At least 4 points of the copper grid must be connected to a grounding wire or a conductive steel column.
Copper strip connections must be tightly pressed, without gaps, ensuring continuous conductivity.

Apply a layer of specialized adhesive over the copper strips and the surrounding gaps.
The adhesive must be spread evenly without gaps. Then, wait for the adhesive to dry for 20-25 minutes before laying the flooring.
Start laying from the center of the room or a reference line, working towards the edges.
The flooring sheets must be laid tightly together, with seamless joints, and no shifting.
Use a rubber mallet to gently tap into place and a 50kg roller to evenly roll over the entire floor surface after 30 minutes to remove air bubbles and increase adhesion.
During the laying process, immediately remove any air bubbles with a scraper or by rolling.

After the adhesive has dried, use a PVC welding gun to weld the seams between the sheets.
After welding, use a specialized knife to trim off the excess for a smooth surface.

Use a specialized resistance meter to measure the resistance:
Surface resistance: 10⁴ - 10⁶ Ω.
Resistance from surface to ground: ≤ 10⁹ Ω.
If the values exceed the limits, recheck the grounding system, the copper strip layer, or replace faulty flooring sheets.

Clean the floor surface after laying, ensuring no stains remain.
Apply an anti-static waxing layer to protect the surface and maintain stable conductivity.
Avoid walking on or placing loads for 48 hours to allow the adhesive and seams to fully stabilize.
Avoid direct sunlight or sudden temperature changes for the first 1-2 days after installation.

After installation, regular maintenance is mandatory to ensure the anti-static vinyl flooring consistently maintains its charge control capabilities. Here are recommendations compiled from ANSI/ESD S20.20, ASTM F710, and practical installation experience:
Post-installation: Do not move or place heavy objects for 48 hours to allow the adhesive to fully stabilize.
Regular cleaning: Use a vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth. Limit excessive water as it can affect the adhesive layer.
Apply anti-static wax periodically every 6-12 months to maintain conductivity.
Test surface resistance every 6 months using specialized measuring equipment. If the resistance exceeds the standard (10⁴ - 10⁶ Ω), re-evaluate the grounding system and surface coating.
Periodic testing according to regulations not only ensures the flooring functions correctly according to ESD standards but also extends the lifespan of the installation, reducing the risk of damage to sensitive electronic equipment.

To ensure optimal performance, anti-static vinyl flooring must comply with both international standards and Vietnamese standards (if applicable). The standards can be broadly divided into two main categories:
ANSI/ESD S7.1 (USA): Standard for measuring the electrical resistance of flooring materials.
IEC 61340-4-1 (International): Test method for electrical resistance of flooring materials and installations.
ANSI/ESD STM97.1 (USA): Standard for measuring electrostatic voltage on people walking on the floor.
ANSI/ESD STM2.1 (USA): Standard for measuring static dissipation time.
(These standards specify critical parameters such as surface resistance, volume resistance, generated body voltage, and static dissipation time within a safe range of 10^4 – 10^9 Ohm, or depending on the specific flooring type).
